Your Dream buck

Unread postby Boogieman1 » Tue Dec 24, 2019 8:00 am

Curious what everyone’s dream buck is? By dream buck I’m not talking some 300” typical but instead something u feel in your lifetime of hard hunting you have a real shot at.

Mine is something funky. I want a heavy horned, smashed up freaky deaky. I’m not talking all hole in the horn caliber buck but just something different. A conversation piece if u will. One of those mounts that people just look at and say I wonder what the heck happened to him. Never have got a pic of anything even remotely like that but I like to think it’s possible.

Heavy horned clean typical or gnarly non-typical scoring at least 180”. Seen a few over the years and they never leave your mind. Connecting with a buck like that is a lifetime goal that I will keep chasing till I can’t physically do it anymore.

A heavy clean typical framed buck in the 160" range.

A buck with drop tines don't care if it is 120 or 180 just want a set of drop tines to put on the wall. Double main bean would be pretty cool too.

Net booner in my home state. They are incredibly few and far between. If I had it my way I'd love to scout and intentionally kill one with the bow.

My dream buck is more about the dream kill. A big bucket list for me is shooting a nice one spot stalking. Second is killing one in a different state.

For straight up rack, I want a drop tine. Probably 160s but I care more that it's real wide. For some reason I like the wide racks more than the tall ones.

Something with A LOT of mass all the way to the ends. A friend of mine shot a older buck some years ago that was only 7 points but I’ve never physically seen a buck with more mass than that one. It was awesome.

Even though nets are for fishing I'd love a net 180 typical

The dream kill is another good one. I always wanted to get one still hunting through the thickets on a rainy day. Kind of a real heartbreaker for me. Would say when the right conditions were presented I could routinely get around the 50 yard mark. But for my shooting capabilities 25 is about my max. Came so close so many times, often coming down to just pulling back the bow and screwing the pooch. Then one day the stars aligned in a cedar thicket during a steady rain. In my head I drilled the sucker right in the goodies. No blood with the rain and I never found him. I still try every once in awhile when it’s just wet or a light mist. No luck yet, but agree it will be special if it ever happens. Hope u have better luck with the bucket list!

I want a Booner. Typical with a drop tine but still makes it on net score  is that too much to ask?

I like them all, but if I had to pick one a tall tined tight racked 160+ typical would get me fired up.

I would say a really thick, perfectly symmetrical, really clean, chocolate rack 10 point.
