2 more hunts with 2 new hunters

Unread postby moog5050 » Fri Dec 06, 2019 6:45 am

Hoping to get two new hunters on deer tomorrow and Sat. One is a QDMA program adult new hunter that I agreed to mentor. He has had two chances on really nice bucks but it didn't work out. Buck fever. Maybe a doe would have been better but we have one more hunt left on Saturday. The other is a work colleague who just got his license this year and his buddy who promised to take him out has not come through. Tomorrow is his day. Really hoping I can put them on deer the next two days - any decent deer. Good thoughts this way appreciated.

Its been a crazy year with the number of people I have taken hunting (including 3 that got took their best bucks) but the Lord also blessed me with a solid buck in bow and another in gun, plus a muzzleloader doe with my 11 year daughter with me - very rewarding year.

Time to get it done, twice more hopefully! lol

Good for you for helping take out some adult onset hunters, and good luck on the hunt!

Awesome! Good work!

Excellent! Fun seeing folks light up after they get one.

I'm taking 2 guys at the end of the month - targeting does but they can shoot whatever walks out that they want. Should be a fun trip.

Then stepson is coming - want him to get his first buck. He's only gotten does so far - will hunt w/me in my spot and hopefully get a 6-8 pt buck.

Good stuff!

We help host several field to fork classes and mentored hunts each year. It's always very rewarding to help someone along their path.

Well quick update - first hunter clean missed a doe at about 60yds and the second hunter never got out of bed (or at least not in the 20 min I waited out side his house after texting and calling him). So, 0 for 2 on the last hunts or 1 for 1 on opportunities depending on how you view it. But that first hunter was excited and said he had a huge adrenalin dump even with the miss.

And hopefully he learned something that will allow him to be successful next time.
