Hello Everyone,
I am looking into doing a DIY late season public land hunt in Kentucky with the ultimate goal of a mature buck. I live in Ohio. I have never done an out of state deer hunt and i dont even know where to start. What are somethings that you DIY guys do to get started and to find an area for hunting? Any Advice will help! Thanks in advance!!

#1 , Maps ! Pick an area your interested in then look at topo and aerials of it. I look for transition areas . Late season I’d be hunting close to heavy bedding cover between a food source .

Lots of info on kdfwr.gov about public WMA''s and other land. I'd look for hard access and thick cover. It can be a tough time of year but if you find deer it seems like you find them all.
https://kygeonet.ky.gov/kdfwr/ is also a neat tool that'll show you public ground.
Good luck.

Take someone hunting or fishing.
