Bill would open Michigan gun season on Nov 5th instead of the 15th.
Anybody think this is a good idea? Sure hope WI never considers this.

Their trying to figure out how to keep interest in hunting.
Season structure is/will be tinkered with.
How to retain & recruit. No easy answers.
In WI we have added the xbow to the archery season, youth
hunts, holiday hunts, muzzle loader.
I will be on public lands tomorrow morning for the opener.
And as usual, I doubt I will have any orange near me.
Gone are the days of having to get to the parking lot by 4:30
to have a parking spot.

Definitely not a good idea. The reasoning explained in the article below makes it sound even more ridiculous and just trying to appease the crowd that's upset with the baiting ban.
We have plenty of hunting opportunities here in Michigan, so adding 10 days to the firearm season isn't going to help with hunter recruitment.

Appeasement never works. Some people never learn.

I don't hunt Michigan but I sure hope that that doesn't happen here in WI

Might as well just open a year round gun season with unlimited tags. Kill em all!!! What a joke!! Boy I can’t stand oxygen pirates.

Our state is a joke when it comes to natural resource management. It's really kind of embarrassing. MI has so much potential.

Now is the time to speak up to the elected people that represent you. Make phone calls, send emails do whatever it takes to put a stop this before it goes anywhere.

Not to up on MI politics and the nuances of their management but is there any reason being thrown around for considering this? Gun crowd not wanting all those darn bowhunters killing all their bucks during the rut?
Quite honestly, I'm a little torn. Immediate reaction is like many others, thinking its ridiculous, but at the same time, anything to increase hunter recruitment and involvement isn't necessarily bad...
