Wisconsin gun opener mature swamp buck questions
Well I've been tagged out since the 3rd day of the season for bow and this is my first shot again at another buck , I've never hunted during gun before , I have areas that I have saved that are hard to get to and go through water/marsh and some islands. What have you go get it guys experienced during gun , will it be common to run into people where most won't go during bow? I'm just worried the good spots I had saved for bow that I didnt hunt will get hunted during gun because of there being more people hunting even though I doubt anyone goes back there but i just don't know yet because I'm still new. I also have some very overlooked spots saved for drives or maybe try to hunt along roads/freeways that are cattails flats with a few high spots but I don't think you can hang a stand with no trees around so I'll probably drive those spots where you cant hang and hunt.

Really depends on your area. I generally see more guys in the areas I saw some people during bow, but rarely see people where I never see anybody during bow. I’m also in the central forest region so I have tons of public and no big population centers near me. Would be way different by Milwaukee, fox valley or Madison I’m guessing but you never know.
If it’s your first time, maybe give it a crack in deep the first day. Got nothing to lose. Will learn something for future years.

I hunt central region mainly and I just don't know because I hear about it being a circus fest during gun on most public, it was a circus on opening bow weekend this year and half the guys were after the buck I tracked down and shot lol

I’m guessing you are on a smaller tract. I’d expect pressure but you don’t know until you get out there and see others there. If it’s wet, it’s frozen as well. Lots of ice fishing going on as well so most places are easily accessible.

A lot more guys out there for sure, but they’ll typically stick to 100 yards or less from the access trails though. With that being said, you’ll still get more guys going really deep too because this is the only time of year they hunt.
So in short, be prepared for anything and get to the parking area early.

Seems like I'll have to just go to those overlooked spots next to the interstate where I'll get laughed at for hunting

Re: Wisconsin gun opener mature swamp buck questions
Opening day is a good time to get in earlier and go deeper than everyone else. This way everyone is doing a deer drive for you right away in the morning and when they get ants in the pants syndrome.
Ideally you’d want to find an escape route to secure bedding and position yourself either in the bedding or between it and the other hunters. I had a place like this years back and killed an absurd amount of deer there.
If you want public land success in Wisconsin on opening weekend you have to know where the deer want to go when they’re pressured and then find their route to get to these secure places.
Good luck

Great advice right there. From what I've experienced getting away from pressure is almost impossible during rifle. You have to figure out how to use it to your advantage. Easier said than done tho most times
