Need help understanding wind and thermals
I’m fairly new to archery hunting but always gun hunted.. I believe you can’t beat a deers nose so learning how to read and setup on winds and understanding thermals is crucial..can anyone point me in the right direction for articles, books, or YouTube that shows or describes in detail how to read and setup for thermals or winds?

Hunting beast podcast episode 1 goes over wind and thermals.
I pick up something new every time I listen to it.... That goes for all the HB podcasts actually.

The hill country bedding dvd made a lot of things click for me with thermals. Should be in the hunting beast gear or stealth outdoors store.

As much as I read and watched I learned the most by dropping milkweed. Some situations were an ah-ha moment and related back to what I read and watched and some left me scratching my head and seeking answers. Eventually it will make sense and some spots you just won’t know till you get there!

Re: Need help understanding wind and thermals
The big thing I got from the dvds is how thermals can affect you in very subtle situation. How Dan pointed out about the placement of an observation stand so his thermals would flow to buck bedding. The hill wasn’t steep or very big at all and I never would have thought about that. It made me realize they can come into play a lot of different ways, many ways I wouldn’t even think about....always good to check when you can.
There has to be an explosion of milkweed plants going on across the country now..or this coming Spring!

Re: Need help understanding wind and thermals
I think the best thing to do is start with the basic ideas and build from there. Sun hitting the valley and rising in the morning, valley gets shaded and thermals fall in the evening ex.
Another thing is start dropping milkweed while your walking to your locations. Watch how it flows through trees, what it does between wind gusts, around water. The more you do it the faster you will start noticing trends.
