Swamp freeze up movement

I am wondering if you guys see deer abandon wet areas when they first freeze up? We have property up north with a big swamp in the middle, this last weekend we saw very little movement in the swamp, but I believe it just recently froze up. I'm wondering if they avoid those wet areas for awhile when they first freeze up or did we just not have deer in the area at that time. Do they return after a few days or week or what are your experiences?
