Told my buddy/neighbor one time a few years ago when I saw two giants bedding right by his house but close to our property line. The next day there was a tree stand on that tree line.
First and last time mentioning anything to anyone.

I'll unfriend someone on facebook for even asking where I hunt or fish  when people ask who dont know any better, I just tell them that a gentleman never tells.

That has been my prime tactic thus far this year....

I don’t trust anyone to keep a secret.

I tell my brother where I am at in case I get hurt. And tell my dad and brother where I shoot deer. I’m not married, so this is my best bad option to save my rearend if I go missing and am dangling by my harness from a tree.

I tell them not to tell people because it is an overlooked area also.

I’m sure they have told people because it is in their nature to do so.

I get angry at human nature very often.

It comes down to people thinking they know better than you and wanting to have interesting things to talk about to seem less boring.

Sorry to let my misanthropy show, but that is honestly how I feel.

Last year we were on a limited entry hunt. We set up a stand that everyone that come in the place could see from the road but it was one of those over looked spots. First day my daughter seen shooters but got no shot. Second afternoon my son shot a good 8 point. You have to check deer in on this hunt. So apparently the gw told everyone that the biggest deer of the hunt was killed where we were when son folds were laughing at where we were. Next morning my daughter had to shine off several folks.

This goes for fishing too. If you find a good spot tell no one or it won’t be good long.

Old guy I hunt with drags his deer and hogs far enough from the spot that folks won't inadvertently find it when he brings em in to help drag.

Stinks but folks want success bad enough to steal your spot, about every time.

I'm always nervous about who I tell. I definitely don't tell my father-in-law any details because he can't keep his mouth shut. Took my wife's cousin hunting for the first time last year and of course, he shared with a couple of guys at work his buck he shot. Told them the general spot and miraculously the hunting pressure increased this year. My wife knows a general area I will be but the only person that knows exactly is my good friend and also beast member here.

Hmm maybe this should be a tactic. Use these people to bump a bedding area to stack another.

Sent some trail cam pics to a landowner who dosent hunt. Ended up losing access for some vauge reason. Later after talking to the guys wife I found out he was thinking about hunting again. I learned a hard lesson that day.

I showed a buddy a good spot and he's been dipping there multiple times throughout the season and even took a friend there. I'm pretty sure it's toast now.

I had this exact type thing happen this season. A "buddy" moved in on me just because he knew there were good deer there. My new motto is going to be "don't make me lie straight to your face". I hate how big antlers make some people lose all integrity... one of the only negatives with deer hunting.

There is always the one who can't take a hint. It's an awkward conversation when they are on your camera or explaining a spot that we already have ready to go. I give vague information at best but its a tightrope. Big woods hunting can be messed up real quick so I am careful who I talk to. "where did you get him?" oh on the back 40
