All the time, probably my favorite way to pursue game.
Dosnt work the majority of time, alot of things can and do go wrong, but when the stars align. There is no greater feeling.

Committed to try it one hunt and after several filed attempts was able to shoot a doe at 27yds with my recurve. Honestly one of the cooler things I have done hunting. I think I was as surprised as the doe.

Re: Does anyone spot and stalk with a bow?
I hunt in hill country and I've had pretty good success at what I call a spot and get in front of there but and wait. Had good look with it on creeks and rivers as well. But still hunting or actually slipping into within 20 yards of one has proved not be effective for me. I'm a bit heavy footed and the woods I hunt are pretty thick. More often than not they see me b4 i see them.
Now spot and stalk hog hunting is where it's at! Them things are almost blind, u can slip in super close to them.

Did a little when I lived out west. But mulies and elk, aren't as high strung as whitetails.

I have gotten pretty close to a couple of younger bucks with spot and stalk. It is definitely a thrill, really gets the heart pumping!
Bummer of a birthmark, Hal.

My best best bow buck was spot and stalk (mostly crawl) with a bow in an open pasture with cedars.
Some do. Some don't. I just might...

Other than western plains which I haven’t done for a long time I love sneaking thru marsh bedding areas on windy wet days. Always cool how close you can get to deer in those conditions. Haven’t had a clean shot at a big buck yet that way but you can bet it’s on my to do list. Can’t think of a more exciting way to hunt.

I agree with Dewey on the wet, windy days. Last year I got to 45 yards on a big doe standing on a Marsh edge. She just stood there for 45 minutes while I walked around half the marsh through the woods to get to her. Definitely fun way to hunt.

Ewww. Hope my ole lady never says that! Personally I wanna get a big buck cornered and go at em with brass knuckles. Might not make for a pretty shoulder mount but what a rush

Re: Does anyone spot and stalk with a bow?
Gotten darn close in high marsh grass or prairie. Preferred situation is glassing one bedded up with a doe, getting downwind and moving in. Still on my bucket list. Got a shot at a goodun one time doing this, but didn't raise up enough for my arrow to clear the bush in front of me and deflected my arrow. Been close a couple other times too.
I have an unhuntable prairie in a forest preserve behind my house. The big boys like to bring does out into it during the rut. Gotten some cool picture with a camera on practice stalks doing this. Got between a buck and doe that were 10 yards apart one time (pic below). Little easier where they can't be hunted!
