What website is the best for wind predictions?
I've always used Scoutlook but it looks like they've changed it now. I'm strictly talking computer use. I have a flip phone so the smart phone app route probably won't work.
Any ideas?

You can look at all the weather models any forecaster or website uses on that site.
Once you get the hang of navigating it, you can predict your own weather

Go here. Wind speed and forecast
Click on the "Weather" tab and go to "Current Conditions" then to "Current Wind Direction"
A page with the entire USA will show up.
Scroll down and you will see that you can choose just a map of your state.
Select that state.
Book mark this page....
On that Page you can, in the upper left hand corner choose "(YOUR STATE) forecast maps". Select "Wind Direction Forecast map" From the drop down. This will then give you a map that has the speed and direction of the wind as forecasted for time intervals of 3 hrs.
It is great because you can see how the wind direction and the speed that is expected to change in 3 hr intervals.
Enjoy... I check it before I go out every time... You can get to it on your smartphone too with your web browser if you forget to check before you leave.

Windfinder.com
Has a map you can look at the dominate wind anywhere. 3 hr intervals and predicts out to a week. Far superior to wunderground. If I look at each weather station on weather underground near me, each is different and predicts different wind directions per hour. Windfinder has been pretty reliable within a day or two of the current dominate wind. I use weather bugs current wind direction in my zip to verify.

Re: What website is the best for wind predictions?
Windy gives the best visual and ability to toggle the three prominent models.
I rarely give a "best" answer to subjective gear questions but I am somewhat weather obsessed more from being a great lakes fisherman and windy is the best I've found.
Still wind is very complicated and you still need an understanding of microclimates and a pocket full of milkweed or something similar.
The higher the forecasted wind speed the more reliable the direction in any given spot. Keep in mind too light and variable is a total crapshoot in hill country

Flip phone guy too here, my favorite website for wind speed is the weather channel website and specifically the HOURLY tab. I find it to be very accurate.

Re: What website is the best for wind predictions?
I use noaa hourly and WU. They are accurate enough for prevailing wind. I then just have to figure out thermals, aspect, terrain/topography to determine what it will be where I hunt.
Some do. Some don't. I just might...

Re: What website is the best for wind predictions?
I’ve used a lot of options.
The day I killed my buck this year, the exact wind was very important. I hung back for a few hours waiting for the forecasted wind shift. I began to doubt several of the forecasters I was watching such as NOAA. Eventually, I found that the app “Dark Sky” was the most on point to what my milkweed was reflecting. I found this odd as that app isn’t always accurate in regards to other aspects of the weather. But hey, milkweed doesn’t lie!

I hunt, I fish and I sing guitar solos in songs.

Windfinder.com. Enter your location, and it pulls up wind info for that day and a couple days afterwards.
On my deathbed, I will receive total consciousness. So I have that going for me, which is nice!
