CWD... You eating?
A topic on another forum asked the question if your deer tested positive for CWD are you going to still eat it. Thinking about it, I’m pretty sure that I would. And chances are I’ve already eaten the inner loin at a minimum before I found out.
I was shocked by the amount of people that said they would throw the meat in the trash. It kind of makes you wonder why would these people even consider hunting in an area known to have it.
But anyway am I in the minority here too?

Yep. If I get sick and die, I won’t eat the next one. Worked way too hard to throw venison in the garbage.
I hunt areas where they had positive tests. Never crosses my mind as a steak enters my mouth. Rather die from that over the store bought imported “meat”

Nope. I'll get another doe tag.

Never plan on ever testing my deer so will keep eating unknowingly.

If I knew, I’d probably pass. However until then I just assume their fine until I hear something different.

No. Do they give you another buck tag if it tests positive?

Hasn't been discovered (yet) in my area, but I would not risk it if I had one that tested positive.

Re: CWD... You eating?
I just talked to a conservation officer about that friday. He stated is has never been an issue eating meat affected by CWD

No, I would not feed my family with it. Why take the risk? If all deer in my area were infected, I would likely just stop hunting. That's just me though.

Re: CWD... You eating?
If it were just me eating it, maybe. Depends on the cut .
Since it's not just me though, I answered no. My family's primary meat sources are venison and rainbow trout, and I'm not willing to knowingly feed infected meat to them. I know it hasn't made the jump to people, and maybe it never will, but I'll let someone else risk the health of themselves and their children rather than me exposing my little girl and son to it.
