Hunting Peninsula's

Unread postby BamaXander » Tue Oct 08, 2019 12:31 pm

Have you found that deer like a particular wind on peninsulas? Do they prefer to use the wind to check it before they go in or to have it blow down the peninsula to protect them while they bed? Generally, deer will bed with the wind at their back, but on a peninsula would they bed at the point of the peninsula with the wind in their face thinking they are covered completely behind them with the water? If they do, kayak access well before daylight could be a good option to kill them on their way back to bed. So for example (see pic): Would a buck come in on a SW wind and enter into this bed? Or would he prefer to come in on a NE wind to inspect the whole peninsula with his nose and then just use his eyes to protect him? Or could it be both?
