Fat cap

Unread postby muddy » Mon Oct 07, 2019 8:27 am

It amazes me how some deer can pack on the inches. This is Olivia's doe from yesterday. She was trailing a fawn as well as a couple does with fawns. Big ol matriarch.

In 2013 I killed a buck on opening day that dressed out at 190 lbs. I’m totally convinced he was a couch potato 2 year old. When I skinned him he had at least 4” of fat over his entire hind quarter and upper ribcage. Never seen that much fat on a deer. That doe looks very similar.

Save it to hang out for the wild birds come January.
The juncos, nuthatches and various little woodpeckers will love it!
