Joe inspired hunt. Ohio opener

Unread postby Weaver.b » Sat Sep 28, 2019 2:08 pm

After watching Joe's hunt it got me thinking and for opening morning I am taking the boat up a channel and hopping off onto an oak lined peninsula surrounded by marsh. In a way I am kinda winging it but I scouted the area and have seen beds and scrapes on this peninsula. Goal is to have fun diving in deep and kick the season off with a bang. We will see what happens! Getting in there plenty early.

Good luck! Always fun to try something different. Morning may be better than evening with the temps being close to 90 tomorrow.

Update- The access was pretty clean aside from a few does being bumped off the edge of the channel. I was set up and sitting in my stand 1.5 hr before shooting light. Didn't see anything on stand so got down after a while and still hunted/ scouted the area and learned that the white oak acorns were already gone. Pretty good amount of small tracks but no buck sign.

Still had fun getting out and watching the marsh wake up
