No go.
Good: I went in watching my wind with milk weed. Did great with that. Set up was dead silent. I was very slow, glassing my way into the timber. Got in a great tree for going in blind.

Negative: I approached from west with wind in my face right at him. 70 yards away I realized the transition line from brush to timber was to thin and backed out J hooked my way around and came in from the north. I knew of a real thick patch that would buffer me from his view and id be 60 yards away when he stood up and 30 to where he browses. I Bumped a coyote 100 yards from the tree. Then 30 min before sundown wind changed blowing out of the north/north east so it was definitely missing him and then questionable. Not sure if it was my first approach, coyote or wind.

Learned a lot. Gonna back off and keep glassing the property. Its a 15 acre farm overgrown due to the farmer aging. 300 yard wide strip of Timber on the back side.

Good stuff man! Sounds like you played your cards right to me. Switching winds save many deer from the Beasts every fall. So don’t feel bad about that.

Good luck!

Your ability to stay in the moment, use your head and make adjustments seems like you are at a high level already. You are going to do just fine.

The only thing I will say is afternoon sits I always always always pick a tree with the wind switch in mind. Unless a front is blowing thru it is going to switch. Once you use that milkweed a lot in different terrains, it becomes fairly predictable.

Good luck man.

What ever happens today, win or loose, learn something!!! If it doesn't work out, use that knowledge to apply later. Good luck and happy hunting!!! Enjoy the woods!   8-) 8-)
