Tethrd Mantis sizing.
I'm getting ready to order a saddle in the near future and i was curious of the sizing. By the description and size chart, I'm wondering if I would need a medium or large. I'm 5' 9" and around 185 pounds.
Can any of you guys that use them give me a review on how they are sized (early season vs. late season with layers)? It looks like shipping takes a bit so I don't want to have to turn around and send it back.

Re: Tethrd Mantis sizing.
Im 5 11" about 190 and I bought a large. Its a little big on me with my early season clothing but it fits nicely over all my cold season layers. I just folded up the excess strap length and taped them up so I didn't have so much hanging off the saddle

Re: Tethrd Mantis sizing.
I just ordered one on the 10th of this month so I can't comment on fit yet, but I'm 6'1" @ about 165 and I ordered a Medium. Don't really plan on using it for super late season sits as I imagine I would just use my lone wolf and stick so hopefully a medium will do me well.

Re: Tethrd Mantis sizing.
I'm 5'10" and 210 lbs. Just ordered a large even though a medium is within my waist size. Figured since I was at the upper end I should go up a size to accommodate heavier clothing. No idea if it was a good choice or not. Hope to get mine in 6 weeks so I can find out. Looking to lessen the bulk of my Kestrel and maybe sell it if I like the Mantis.

Thanks for the responses so far. I'm leaning toward a medium in my mind, but I want to feel confident when I place the order.
Also, what accessories would you say are more important as far as the freebie goes? The micro-adjusters or the sys-hauler?

I got the micro adjusters as my freebee and haven't used them really at all. Since buying my mantis I bought two sys haulers and love them. The one on my left holds my ropes, the one on my right holds my pull up rope, headlamp, and rangefinder. There's enough room to fit a 12oz bottle of water in there too if I need it.

You'll be fine with either a medium or a large, but I'd lean more towards medium. I've helped fit dozens of people in them personally. As far as the freebie get the sys hauler, it's always usefull, the microfit adjusters go unused quite frequently.

6’2 210 and I ordered the medium. It fits perfectly and I have rooms for thicker clothes still.

Re: Tethrd Mantis sizing.
Go large or xl.
I'm 5.10 150 pounds and medium was way to small.
I bought a medium and returned it for a large.
Medium mantis is for a teenager or very skinny adult.
Medium does not cup under your tush enough I constantly felt like I was half way in half way out. It also rubbed my hip sides.
Medium sits very flat if you search well on internet you will find alot of complaints that mantis doesnt cup their tushy that's because they trusted the size chart and order too small of a saddle.
I'm 34 waste . If your 32 or over waste go large.
Large fits me very well and is way way more comfortable. Night and day difference. I'm way way happier with the bigger size.
Go sys hauler ther are great.

I'm 5'10'', 170 lbs. A large fits me well. A medium would be too small. I have 32'' waist.

Im 6’2” and 170. I ordered a medium and while it fit I could not get completely comfortable. I sent it back for a large and am very happy I did

Re: Tethrd Mantis sizing.
I’ve wondered about sizing too. There is a size difference on the chart between a leaner and sitter. I’ve never used a saddle but I am looking into it, for size reference I am 6’ 240

I spend 1/2 the season or more layered up and bought a xl I'm 5' 8" 220 I'm built like a short ogre. I find a larger than I need saddle far more comfortable.
