We did not weigh him.. since it was pretty warm out I wanted to get him cleaned up as quick as we could. I did notice while I was watching him and other bucks in that bean field during the summer that his body size was substantially larger than the other bucks in the field.
Can’t blame ya there. Congratulations. Great buck and great back to back seasons. The story really shows that the hard work and time pays off.

How far off beans was he bedded?
Probably around 200-250 yards. I noticed from watching him through the summer that he was usually one of the last deer to enter the field at night. And he usually wouldn't get there until right at the end of shooting light or after shooting light. The only time that he was in the field early, 30 mins-1 hour, before sunset was if a front was moving in or if it was raining. If i would of been set up along that bean edge the night I shot him I don't think he would of made it to me before legal shooting light, it would of been within minutes if he would of made it to me would be my guess.

Man, again, wow! I gotta wonder what he would have looked like hard horned, but in velvet that is a special thing. I'm wondering how you are going about the handling and preparation for a mount with that velvet on there?

Re: 2 Years. 2 Sits. 2 Kills.
Such an interesting method. Very similar to Jessie Coots. Listened to a podcast with him, Joe and Andy May back awhile ago. He is very big on this method of hunting. What a slammer of a buck! Its a privilege to watch deer like that on a pattern that is huntable on public land to boot. I spend 80+ evenings a summer "trying" to catch bucks on this sort of a pattern...just never do. But glassing still has a lot of pluses in keeping track of bucks even if you only see them a few times during the summer.
Congrats man. Cool story.
