Do you bring your bow when in season scouting?
I’m just wandering wether you bring your bow when your I season scouting. I’m not talking about a scout your way in afternoon hunt. I’m wandering like a mid morning transition scout or just maybe even if your burning transitions on a new property? Any thoughts or opinions are welcome.
I feel like I want to bring mine but wanted some guidance from guys who have done this for a while.

Why not is what I would say. It's often unlikely you will get a shot during scouting, but you may just get lucky.

For sure. Especially during the rut. Just be careful if your going to have an arrow knocked. I would advise against that.

I bring my bow and my stand is on my back... If I find something I like I want to set up shop immediately.

If the season is open I’m carrying my bow. You just never know when a buck will suddenly appear.

You'd be crazy not to. I do leave the stand behind every now and then but I usually take that too.

Rest assure the one time u don't take your bow u will see the biggest buck of your life. Learned that lesson once the hardway. Set all morning didn't see squat decided to go to truck warm up and grab a bite. Left my bow hanging cause I was coming back to same stand. On the way back I saw a clueless toad at 20 yards. All I had was my D in my hand. After that I always have bow in hand with a arrow on the string. I also don't carry nothing in my other hand or carry gear in a way that prevents me from getting off a quick shot.
Life is hard; It’s even harder if you are stupid.

One time I left my bow hanging up in the tree and climbed down to grab my pack for a quick bite to eat at lunch time during an all day sit. Just as my feet touched the ground a mid-day cruiser came by and he was a good one. All I could do is watch him walk by while I hid in the brush. HUGE lesson learned........Always keep your bow within reach. I will never make that mistake again especially during the rut.

Everybody that has some experience has "that story" when they got caught with their pants down, sometimes literally. I've had mine, so yes, if season is in I like to have a weapon in reach at all times.

Absolutely. I always bring it even if just checking a cam not far off the road. I had to watch a 140” 9 pt walk towards me posture up rub some trees and stand 10 yards broadside looking the other way once...
Some do. Some don't. I just might...

I carry my bow and make sure my release is on anytime I’m in the woods. Years ago I had a nice buck close and didn’t have my release on while I was walking in from a morning hunt.Tried getting it on but it was to late

Re: Do you bring your bow when in season scouting?
Two options: learn from everyone's mistakes and bring your bow, or learn the hard way and leave it. It's the most important tool you have when bow hunting. Why leave it in the truck?
It's not the destination, it's the journey getting there!
