This morning I put boots on the ground to check out a old spot that I haven’t hunted for several years. I have no particular reason why I quit hunting it but it hard to hunt all my spots.
Several hundred acres were added a few years ago so it was time to see the new place. I found some very promising stand locations. Walking through the over grown tangled field I stumbled on a nice Milkweed patch. I stuffed my fanny pack full of pods to start the drying process.
Not far from the patch was a bed up against tree line and right by a natural funnel.
Pic of the field
When I hunted it years ago I always seen good activity and looking forward to hunting it again.
Plus I got some good exercise

Agreed. ^
Those meadow areas are interesting. More like savannah areas. I have a couple of those by me that are rolling hills with some woods and a bunch of patchy cover, often isolated cedars. I haven't dove on there yet, but might. It's good to get an idea of the bedding in that terrain.

Years back the field was CRP but when the state got it they have let it go back to natural prairie.
The hill side you see in the picture is where the deer bed. Its a thorny tangled mess and will cause humans to bleed if walked through. I’m home now and after studying aerial photos I’m getting pumped to hunt this spot again!
