I found the beast in the spring of 2018 and have tagged my best two bucks since then. I went 3 years without filling my tag before that. The thread "why are you always on edge" changed my whole hunting mindset and has led to me having more opportunities and success. I'd like to say thank you to all the experienced deer hunters who take the time to teach/show us less experienced guys, appreciate it.

Just got back home from mn rifle opener week. Overall kinda of a so so opening weekend as far as deer seen and sign but employing beast tactics I was able to put myself in position to take a decent 8. After mortally wounding this buck he ran 200 yards and was finished off by another hunter. That’s public land hunting sometimes I guess. Anyways I got a photo and me and a buddy dragged the deer out of the woods for the older gentleman who was beyond thrilled. I don’t know if I’ll make it back out with a rifle this season but there’s plenty more bow hunting to come.

Dad hunted the CRP morning and evening. He passed a decent two year old 8. He has been a trigger puller his whole life so that’s progress. I just hope he gets rewarded for it.

He said the yearling bucks were after the does. Either on the hunt or dogging them.

I’m going to try and make it out Friday after work.

Loading up now.
Truck says 7 degrees...
Where’d fall go?
Shot my biggest buck on a morning like this. Cold and crazy ho hand in hand.
Good luck to those going out today.

Sitting in the La Crosse airport, heading to the Adirondacks from Iowa for the rest of the week with family and friends. Generational (I represent the 6th or 7th generation) hunting camp in the big woods.

Sounds like the region got 8-12” of fresh snow overnight, so there is some serious tracking in my forecast. Hope my legs hold up!

Looks like a bunch of women used port wine to dye their hair on this flight? Brings back memories of my high school principal and an English teacher that used to live together and would always dye their hair the same color at the same time.

25 degrees and the ground is covered with fresh snow here in Kentucky. Should be a good morning.

Looks like some doe dogging went on in my yard last night. Went up to the 3D buck target but didn't defile it. Thankfully.

Couple days old but my buddy sent me this picture from minocqua. Think you can hunt downwind of a gas station and does eating carrots?

So the sun's finally starting to warm me up. Hopefully you guys are staying warm out there. Have a dilemma, on my walk in, the ground is super frozen and crunchy. Found a transition line that has a small trail on it with a few tracks over the sleet that we had yesterday. Do you guys think I scared everything away on my way in with how loud it was? Should I just call it quits on this spot and drive to a new one for the evening?
