I'm referring that the wind is coming from the direction. If the predominant wind is wnw, it's blowing from that direction. You are correct about the pictures.

Ok, I understand what you are saying now. With an east wind that theory would make sense. So let's talk about that "s" bend and the location around that area a little more. It looks like from the topo it is sitting in a bottom, is this correct? It also appears there are some hills around it am I correct about this? There is a reason for this hot spot and I'm thinking what may be going on with the other winds is a swirling effect? Around creeks and rivers where there are hills this is very common. The wind can be doing some crazy stuff near there. Also like previously mentioned by another beast the thermals definately come into play here.

With a west north west wind the hills can be funneling this air or redirecting it. Have you ever checked the winds and then done a milkweed comparison?

This will be my first year hunting this area, so I've never dropped milkweed to check the wind. The only safe wind I can think of is wsw or sw in the evening, but my hunch is that the evening thermals will swirl, or the thermals will drop my scent right to the crp field.

The "s" bend is sitting lower than the doe bedding.

Just a hunch but come fall with the leaves off I wouldn't be surprised if it swirls in there.

Would early season be better with leaves on the trees?

It's really hard to tell unless you had eyes on one and you patterned him. Sure has alot of prerut and rut characteristics though.
