I think in the long run if you put someone use to hunting low density in a high density area they are going to do very well, and if you put someone use to high density in a low density they are going to struggle for a while.

Re: What's your opinion! Which new hunter will learn faster?
I remember the 1st time I hunted Iowa. It was unbelievable how easy it was to get on good bucks in the area I was hunting at the time frame I was hunting. I was passing book bucks almost daily yet locals were telling me how they were struggling. One of the locals shot a small 4 point and was real excited about it. I was scratching my head a bit cause it seemed like where ever I set up a decent buck walked out. After that hunt I sent a friend to the same area. Same properties and was shocked when after a week he had not seen a book deer. After going back down and looking at his set ups it dawned on me that it really came down to hunting hard properties successfully all these years had taught me to read a property to the point of doing so almost unconsciously. I was picking the right spots the others were not. Hunting hard ground makes ground like that a breeze. And guys on cushy land and especially those that don't up there goals and test there limits don't get to that level.

I'll be curious how Iowa treats me when I draw a tag. I've done 3 scouting trips and am really blown away by the deer sign when I go down there. To go from days upon days of sits without seeing a deer let alone a small buck in the north to Iowa will be an eye opener. After the experience is over I'll determine if Iowa is really worth the time and effort.

Re: What's your opinion! Which new hunter will learn faster?
Actually after giving this some serious thought instead of my initial goofball answer, this is my opinion.
It would depend upon the individual experiences that each hunter has. Now I like to think that I learn something on every hunt, but realistically that really hasn't happened on every one. I think certain hunts or situations or whatever sometimes puts some puzzle pieces together in our head. So it may be more luck of the draw on the experiences that they encounter and when the occur in the learning development.
