Sitting or standing?
I realize the answer is probably "both" or "either" or "it depends" but do you prefer shooting sitting or standing in a tree stand? (yeah, this is open to the saddle jokesters too...)
Reason I ask is midway through last season was the first mobile setup I'd done. I always used to hunt in set trees from ladder stands with gun rails rusted in place. Had to stand.
I'm going to put up the stand in the backyard here shortly and start shooting from both positions, but just curious whats you prefer and why.

Re: Sitting or standing?
Almost always stand but it depends on the situation. If the deer is in a spot where I can’t stand to shoot then I sit. I’ve also shot a deer or 2 while squatting in stand. It just depends on the situation cause just cause you think a deer is coming from this direction doesn’t mean it will actually happen. Be prepared for everything. If you don’t it’ll cost you a chance at back straps.
Perfection is a dream, practice is hard work, and achieving a goal is making that goal a reality.

It’s complete personal preference but I will sit and shoot whenever possible. Sometimes you have to stand to make the shot, sometimes you have to crouch sometimes you have to sit

Re: Sitting or standing?
It depends on the deer if it came in on my strong side(left), I would shoot sitting to limit movement. That's pretty much then shot i would take sitting.
Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everybody you meet.

Re: Sitting or standing?
I use a saddle now, and prefer leaning. Ideally I set up for the most likely shot to be about my 10:00 as I'm facing the tree. When I would hunt in a hang-on, I preferred sitting with the shot at my 3-4:00. I think sitting is more stable and requires less movement, but I would usually stand the first and last 30 minutes to be more prepared for a shot in any direction.

I usually like to stand so I can move if I need too.

Sit
Stood or crouched for less than a handful of my kills.
I firmly believe that those that stand prior to seeing their target get busted so many more times than us sitters.
Main reason I refuse to try a diaper.
Opinion is based on watching others, especially the younger crowd; as well my own experiences when I first started hunting from a stand.
I actually built stands that we’re not made for standing. Forcing me to sit still. My deer sightings quadrupled !!!

I stand for many things.... funeral processions, the flag, the national anthem, and to kill bucks.

Exactly!! I sit until I need to stand. I’ve killed a few sitting because I had to but the majority of my kills were standing up.

Thanks for all the input.
I quoted this one for both Arrowbender and Ishi...
So you spot a target deer when sitting. You slowly rise to standing? What about if somewhat taken off guard by where the deer came in and don't have as much time?
Or after re-reading... AB, you sit throughout the whole process?
Just wondering about your process from sitting to shot.
