I think the difference is in the live-fire shooting portion of the test. Have to put so many rounds into an area of the target in an allotted time and at different distances. Not difficult, but I think that’s the big difference.

If your gonna carry you better be deadly. Your life depends on it. Surprised more states don’t require that.

#1. I would have to drive through Chicago
#2. I might ruin my reputation of shooting scraggle horns and does.
#3. I don't want to be satisfied shooting big bucks, I live in Michigan, I would rather complain (That's for you JM ;) )

#1 is a legit concern, but you could take the high speed ferry and skip Chicago.

Tag price in Wisco is reasonable, plus our season starts before Michigan's, so take a long weekend and get over here.

At $80 for a first time hunter, why would ANYONE avoid Wisconsin? At that rate, I could almost see hoboing my britches up the river!

I'm going to run the Ferry for the first time when I come over to Deer Fest Aug 2-4.

Wow we have been all over the place on John's thread. Beer, lefty beers, Bret Favre (I love him), CCW reciprocity, now ferry's and why not put a plug in for Deer Fest. Deer Fest is almost back on topic.

That first time tag buy for NR at $80 is a very welcoming invite. I am certain at some point in time I will hunt WI, really can't believe I haven't.

Great thread

I'll see you at Deerfest and buy some more Stealth Strips. Are you going to have your own booth or team up with someone?

I was just looking to see if Tim Put anything up on it. I will go make one with details, and we can give John back his thread, which has become the new daily chit chat.

Thanks John, and I will hunt Wisconsin.

Grass is always greener on the other side.

Regarding Spotted Cow, dang it why did you guys have to ruin it for me? I really like the beer but I didn’t know it was brewed by lefties. Have to find a new go-to now. (Besides white claw :D  :shhh: )

That’s funny because it’s true.

I hate Chicago so much that when I go to lower Michigan I take the SS Badger from Manitowoc to Ludington. Never tried the high speed ferry. That would involve going to Milwaukee which I hate almost as much as Chicago.

I did not realize that there are two ferry's that go across Lake Michigan.

So now there are four options for Michiganders to get over to hunt WI. Through Chicago, down from the Upper Peninsula, The SS Badger, and the High Speed.

Wow, now MI can turn its orange army loose on WI. Careful what you ask for John

I just priced the High speed option. 2 persons and one vehicle, round trip total cost is $589. Wisconsin might be safe after all. I think I could fly DTW, to Milwaukee cheaper for two

If you go down around Lake Michigan you also "get to" experience Gary, Indiana... quite possibly the biggest dunghole I've ever had the misfortune of driving through.

Yeah, Newark, NJ ain’t a whole lot better. Definitely places I’m glad I can scratch off my bucket list.

The SS Badger is much cheaper than the High Speed ferry but also slower. Takes about 4 hrs to cross. It’s actually a very relaxing cruise with plenty to do on the ship.

Chicago and Milwaukee are not bad at all to go thru if you time it right, we always try and go thru Chicago after midnight and before 6am, almost never a problem other than the tolls. I live an hour away from Milwaukee and I usually just avoid driving there during rush hours.
