Best moon days for fall 2019

Unread postby SEOHBB » Mon Jul 01, 2019 8:24 am

Has anyone looked ahead and projected the best OH or UF days yet? I always ask on here rather than spend the $ on a moon guide.

Moon phase apps are free to download on your phones. The moon phase is a piece of the pie but how much we all have are own opinions and experiences. Some believe and some will fight you to the end in denial. I personally believe it has an impact and have real evidence to prove it. Alot of folks have shot some good ones though on days that dont align with the moon. Dont get to wrapped up in it but dont fluff it off. It all situational!

I use the moon apps to plan the best week/ days to hunt. Keep me alert during the better hours. I do believe in it but its a minimal successful tool. I see results/ i dont see results.
The best apps are “Best hunting times” by solution.
And the hunting Calender ( not sure of right name. But it has underfoot and overfoot times which i pay attention too. .

ScottSpitzley did it last year, so I know what you're talking about. Not sure if he plans to again or not.

Here is the link for 2018 discussion for more info, app recommendations, and internet sites. Scott's post is down a bit from the top viewtopic.php?f=3&t=45933&p=692286&hilit=2018+moon#p692286

This won't help you now, but if you look at some of the apps/websites, and take a little time, you can easily create something similar to the one Scott created for your specific area.

Ill make up a chart next month if someone else doesnt. Last year there was a good one posted.

Alot of peep debate on this subject. You just gotta do what works for you and trust it. I personally love using it and have success trusting it. Some wont plan hunts around it but I def will... For every hunter that says they saw deer on those days, another did not. Just start doing it yourself to learn it bc it can get confusing sometimes. Once you do it a few years it will just start clicking when you see the moon phases. The weather is more important though.

NON-RUT DAYS: MOON OVERHEAD / UNDER FOOT (OVERHEAD IS BEST)
1 HR BEFORE SUNRISE / 2 HOURS AFTER SUNRISE
2 HR BEFORE SUNSET / 1 HR AFTER SUNSET

RUT DAYS: MOON OVERHEAD DURING DAYLIGHT
DAYLIGHT CRUISING / MIDDAY

The BEST days are when the moon aligns at prime time in morning and evening - in the same day. Youll notice this happens during the Half Moon phase before the amount of daylight changes. So Half Moon is the best phase to hunt IMO

Not sure where you are located, but this is based on a Michigan zip code(EST) and my theory when the Red Moon(highlighted in red)will be this hunting season. Now keep in mind that it's approximately within 2 hours proceeding daylight and within 2 hours before dark(not sunrise/sunset). Some of the days may be off, but they are near the peak times regardless. If there are any mistakes, correct me, please.

During the rut I would include the moon times that hit 10-2. These are the best times of the year IMO especially if you can combine with cold front/high pressure.

Good point. Definitely times I would not overlook during rut.

I mentioned this in last years post and I will say it again. I use it as a confidence booster, I like having the right conditions on top of the correct weather and I like to believe that these days help my odds. Don't swear by it, by any means. It doesn't dictate whether or not I go hunting.

It also may be a good idea to go back to last years post and see if any of your sightings, encounters or kills correlated around any of those times. https://www.thehuntingbeast.com/viewtop ... n&start=15

I didn't put much stock into the moon theories in the past even after reading a couple of Jeff Murray's books. Then, a buddy bought me one of those circular moon guides in 2016. I paid attention to it during the first month and then left it at home. After killing a mature buck the evening before the gun opener I checked the moon guide later and found that buck was killed within 5 minutes of the posted time.

For 2017 and 2018 I just extrapolated those RED MOON dates based on the 2016 moon guide. 2017 I got a new job, lost my Mom and sustained an injury limiting my deer season to a couple short hunts. 2018 both of my mature bucks were killed on red moon dates.

As someone mentioned previously I have also noticed more deer, especially mature deer, movement during the moon overhead period of the day versus the underfoot period.
