I just wish I would have listen to what I was being told.

Very true. Back then we thought we knew it all. Years later you figure out how little you actually know and then start listening to your elders. That was the turning point for me.

There are thousands of acres literally in your backyard that you can hunt for almost free, learn how to play the wind and be mobile.

I'm with you on that. When I was that age I didn't even comprehend how much public land was out there

I almost thought the other way, that there was public land, but it wasn't going to be any good because there were too many hunters on it.

It's good to be wrong sometimes. ;)

Save money and pay cash for what you need, not credit.

Invest a small portion of your earnings, and keep a nest egg for emergencies.

Not hunting related, but those have a longterm impact on life, happiness etc and indirectly correlates to hunting. Sure was nice not to have to sweat buying new BEAST sticks last year :D

Slow down and soak it up. If you want a chance at a big one forget about hunting so much and become better at scouting. Listen to the woods, it will tell ya where to be. But don’t stay long. Keep the pressure off your spots and keep your spots secret. Don’t take an off-season.

Spend more time practicing with your weapons. Learn to clean them, break them down, and put them back together. Accuracy, more time hitting the target in the off-season.

I'd tell me to put all my money in Google as soon as it comes out to public stock.

I couldn’t have said it any better. Be mindful of what more experienced hunters say, but develope your own theories and grow in your knowledge from the woods instead of basing it off of others experiences. The end result is the same, just blaze your own path.
