Bump and dump returned lesson.

Unread postby Tennhunter3 » Mon Jun 10, 2019 10:59 pm

I would like to show a example of a buck I hunted last fall and the mistakes I made. Hopefully this will help someone.

Yellow line clearcut.
Red dot buck bed.
Green dot my stand and where I should've set.
Orange buck trail he used.
Blue arrow wind
Purple trail my entry route.

The 3rd image was how I setup as you can see my wind was good but my thermal killed me and I was busted.

Image 3 green arrow should've been blue for wind.

How I should've setup was image 2.

Bucks often return wind to back then circle and scent check the bed on return. This buck took me to school I never thought he would return like that.

From the buck bed into the clearcut is 31 yards.

Thanks for sharing! I have no desire to hunt other people's spots. In fact for me finding spots is half of what hunting is all about. However, not everyone has that theory. I would highly recommend that you block out the coordinates of this place unless you don't care about hunting it in the future.

This is not the real location or correct county. It's just some persons private land. The setup was very similar like this point which is why I chose it. I'm sure the guy who owns it would be quite surprised for random people to show up.
