Moon Overhead Clarity

Unread postby funderburk » Sat Apr 27, 2019 4:22 am

So, tell me if I’ve got my head wrapped around this concept correctly...

I looked up September 2019 on www.SolunarForecast.com and saw where Sunday, Sept. 22nd would have a sunrise at 7:13am and the moon would be overhead at 7:38am. Since these are within an hour of each other, and according to Andrae and Dan’s observations, does this mean that the following day, Monday, would be an ideal time to catch a buck coming back to bed a little later?

I would be hunting the day the over head is within the hour of or after sunrise

So it needs to be the same day as the sunrise/moon overhead times lining up?

Yes

Same with underfoot

You will have a couple days in a row that should be close as well

Dont get all hung up on it, you may get a few extra minutes of movement, maybe. Hunt when you can hunt, theres plenty of bucks killed when the moon isn't directly overhead or underfoot. If the moon times line up with when the time is right to move in then bonus

I agree and also contend to hunt when you get the opportunity
However I have a couple on the wall that were killed just due to the extra few minutes of daylight walking he was doing.

Nothing else I have made “special” arrangements to hunt on good moon days when I typically wouldve been on time to work, or not leaving early for an afternoon moon day sit

I view the moon phase as a bonus as well, the other major factors such as weather, pressure, time of year, ect will trump the moon any day of the week. The moon is no silver bullet, however I have noticed major movements on and around major moon phases. The best way to get a handle on the moon is by running trail cams and a journal. Start recording your sightings and opportunities and compare them to your moon guides. Then after you do this you can form your own opinion on the subject. The moon phase and deer hunting is complicated but simple subject! Good luck

The moon phase itself (imho) is irrelevant to the subject of overhead and underfoot movement

I have friends that always schedule vacation during particular moon phases, however you add a good overhead or underfoot moon within the first or last lite with a strong front and the odds keep getting better

When moon OH UF lines up with a cold front and/or high pressure is when you will see the most increased activity. Moon times alone are hit or miss.
Some do. Some don't. I just might...
