Re: Q&A Answer with SEMObowhunter
Thanks for the Good read SEMO !
I love your confidence! It does not surprise me that you have success.
My favorite quote: "Calls are not necessary for me to kill a deer" !
And I do not doubt it.
Also agree with your Ravine/Ridge analogies. Great spots!
Also love to see a few Hero shots!
Good Job ~ thx

Re: Q&A Answer with SEMObowhunter
Thanks to all of you. I have some old phones charging to get some pictures off of them and will try to get them on here. One is posted in the kill thread from the fall of 2017 also. It won’t be a showing of the Boone and Crockett club but just decent deer for my area. I will say that all of them are public land. I was thinking about it today and I have never killed a buck on private land. If anyone has any questions or would like something added to anything I said, I’ll do my best to answer.

Think of looking through a stand of mature timber that hasn’t been cut in 50 years as compared to a clearcut that is five years old. I look for areas that have a lot Of immature growth and the “stem count” is higher. Simple terms would be a lot of small trees closer together. This makes for more cover and a buck feels more secure. I hope that makes sense.

Re: Q&A Answer with SEMObowhunter
What a great read! Very well put together. My favorite part is about the head of the draws and the crows foot. That information just changed the way I will be scouting and hunting the mountains I hunt in. Thank you for taking the time to sit down and put this on the Beast. This information is certainly helpful to this student.

Some good stuff here. I notice most of the really successful guys here in the sight have a lot of similarities in their hunting styles but they all seem to tweak just a bit to fit the terrain/habitat they hunt.

Re: Q&A Answer with SEMObowhunter
Thanks SEMO. I found it interesting that you like to hunt on real high wind days. Hunting high or low on the hill I've personally never had success in real high winds but have heard of a few that have. With that said tho, I'd take hunting 30mph winds over just about any day that is less than 5mph
