Re: Anyone still pick a climber?
I definitely prefer my Summit but am trying to get more and more comfortable with my Assault. I'm just so efficient and quiet with my Summit.

Re: Anyone still pick a climber?
I prefer a climber for over 75% of setups on the property I hunt in WV.
I prefer a lock on for over 75% of the setups on the properties I hunt in Ohio
Where I hunt in NC it is about 50/50.
On a blind set I am bringing the lock on. I am done hunting trees.

Re: Anyone still pick a climber?
Yes - I use my LW sit & climb especially early season - I put a hazemore net seat on it for more comfort. Am thinking about getting a sit-drag to use with the climber and modify it so I can face the tree when necessary for cover and not have to stand the whole time...
I also use hang ons - LW and Millennium - usually when I'm hunting an area I know there is low chance of trees that will work with my climber....

I will use a climber when I know the area allows it. It's lighter, more comfy, and easier to set up. With that said, the deer aren't always in areas I can use a climber

Re: Anyone still pick a climber?
Im a big fan of my lone wolf assault hand climber. Don’t have a run and gun hang on set up yet so that may change my mind but I really like my climber for being mobile. I hunt a lot of mature forests so finding the tree i need to be in thats straight enough for a climber usually isnt a challenge.

Re: Anyone still pick a climber?
In forest land around here I use a climber as I can get into almost any tree I can with a hang on. State parks and wildlife areas are thick, so I'm using sticks and a hang on.

The Hybrid saddle stand is my only way. Comfortable for all day hunts and simple for the quick hunts.

Thanks

I have a Assault II with four sticks that was a Christmas present to myself and have Climbing timber tall tree stand that I’m sure that I will use still. I can safely and Comfortably sleep in my climbing stand. New areas will obviously be the lone wolf. But Known areas where I can use my climbing stand will probably be the Climbing Stand.

Re: Anyone still pick a climber?
I either hunt out of a climber or sit on the ground. Majority of the trees where I hunt are suitable for climbers and if there aren’t any suitable trees I’ll post up on the ground. Just more efficient and confident setting up and taking down a climber plus the comfort can’t be beat.

I really like the Lone Wolf Flip Top on the chunk of private I hunt on but after scouting some of the public close to me it’s a lame duck on those pieces. Probably just going trade the Flip Top for an Assult or Alpha 2.

Re: Anyone still pick a climber?
I probably hunted maybe 50 days last season. I used a sticks n stand combo 3 times. I hunted behind the house out of my blind here n there but all of my other public land hunts were out of my summit. I have been using it for years and have a good system down. Not saying it's right or wrong for anyone else. I just like it.

I agree with this man. Climb with the one stick method and you are only carrying 13 pounds.

Re: Anyone still pick a climber?
I have both a climber and hang ons.
If I know I'm going somewhere where I can use my LW climber, then I take it every time. I think climbers are superior in every way accept flexibility in what trees you can use. I find them lighter overall (no sticks), quicker, safer, and more quiet (once you get good at it). It's just that most good spots don't have "telephone pole" trees nearby, and so you hunt trees and not deer.
