Silencing Carabiners

Unread postby funderburk » Mon Feb 11, 2019 10:27 pm

Working hard these next few months to remedy some noise issues I was having last season. Any advice on silencing carabiners? I’ve used camo duct tape and gorilla tape and it’s too tacky and bulky. Any tips?

Stealth strips and if possible cinching knots so they don’t flop around.

If you have ropes with large spliced eyes you can use castration bands on the rope to make your splice tight to the carabiner so they will not flop around. Stealth strip the carabiners the best you can but dont do anything with the gate or the nose of the carabiner. I have tried dipping them in plasti dip. It worked but I was not impressed with how much bulk it added and I didn't use them enough to see if it would take a beating.

Stealth strips, hockey tape, or vet tape. I tried plasti-dip years ago and it didn't hold up very well for me.

Camo elastic vet tape. Works perfect without adding bulk and super fast to apply.

Nice! Doesn’t even look bulky. That’s great!
