Cwd found in west tn

Unread postby Tennhunter3 » Wed Dec 26, 2018 5:07 am

Recently 7 deer in Fayette county 3 in Hardeman county tested positive for cwd.

Twra extended our season from Jan 7-Jan31

With our already falling deer population this is very bad news.

My question is how long and how hard have they been looking for CWD in those areas?

Bingo. Same thing I said when they first found it in MS last January.

Who knows how long it's been here this was first I had heard of it being in my area of West Tn.

I know our deer population has been on a steady decline in West Tn counties in previous years from huge doe harvest numbers.

Now Twra allowing no limit on doe Harvest.

Between the hunters having no limits and cwd looks like our counties are going to have a grim hunting future.

Seems like Twras logic Is kill out the entire deer herd and hope cwd goes away. As we have seen in other states this has not been effective.

That's a bummer. Hopefully they don't try to eradicate the deer herd.

Bummer, get ready for the DNR to try to shrink the deer herd. They won’t use the piles of data from Wisconsin and Illinois that shows it has no effect on the spread. But they will say that in 20 years they don’t want people to say they didn’t do anything. LOL, because government agencies are always held responsible for the damage they do . That is what the answer for the plan was in Michigan, basically we don’t want it to be said that the DNR was the reason, really dumb.
