SPARK PLUG LIVES! The old warrior is still out there

Spark Plug is still alive! The one Stanley called the old warrior buck, the one he had years of history with; the old boy that Stan finally got the perfect shot at but just could not take last season; old Spark Plug is still alive and kicking. He has been sighted and recorded this fall, the oldest buck Stanley had ever seen at 9.5 years old, 10.5 years old now. Last year, I thought that old deer looked like a sway-back nag, and I won't say that another year has done him any kindness! He appears even saggier and grayer, and his rack is definitely going downhill. But he is still alive....

....and Stan isn't. I'm not sure how I feel about this, still too close to Stan's death to be able to sort it out. But I can tell you this, Stan would be absolutely overjoyed. The old warrior, old Spark Plug, not breeding any more but chasing all the young bucks away. Still king of the woods. Old Spark Plug lives on.

Epic.

Some how there is a certain symmetry in this.

Thank you so much for posting this. Stan's story of this old buck is the best buck tale I've had the pleasure of reading.
