they call me Bob Lee Swager
decided too try and fill my NY tag tonight so i went out too the marsh with my custom built rem 700 in 308 win palma. the area im hunting is a sea of grass for miles in every direction with small 1 too 3 acer islands threw out i decided too setup a observation stand where i can watch every island for deer traffic. i climbed a lone tree 30 feet off the ground with my saddle around noon and started glassing about two hours before dark i sptted this buck stand up in the grass just off the down wind side of one of the small islands he stretched out feed on some brush and laid back down. i ranged him with my range finder 492 yards. i spent the next hour checking the wind speeds and adjusting my scopes windage dial for the shot. finally a half hour before dark he stood back up. i took aim settled in and squeezed the trigger. boom! i sit there holding and watch my bullet impact right in the crease of his shoulder. the buck drops in a heap and lays still he died in his bed. this is the first time i ever got too take my 14 pound match rifle hunting. never had a spot that was worth carrying it now i just need to figure out how too get out too this deer too drag him out. well 4 hours later im back at the truck and on my way home. i never figured id get a shot tonight just wanted too observe a new location. so now its back too Nj too finish off the rest of season with a bow. freezer is full and good till next year. it feels good too get a deer with this rifle i spent over 2 years developing loads for it and building the whole rifle from barrel and action i bought. i normally just shoot it in 600 yard tactical matches and ring steel at my buddies farm out too 1300 yards. think its time i take a trip out for a western mule deer hunt.

Way to go. Got to be satisfying.
I'm reason they call it hunting and not shooting.

rifle started as a remington 700 sps tactical then i replaced the trigger with a timmony flat blade then i trued the bolt out. then i got a custom bell and carlson stock that i glass bed installed a whyett detachable box mag i installed a leapold 20 moa base. and used 30mm weaver rings scope is a weaver tactical 3x15 x 50mm. my round is 308 lapua palma brass using federal gm 205 primers and a full case of imr 4895 powder i am using sierra 175g match king bullets. cases are 1/3 neck sized using redding bushing dies and getting 2600 fps out of a 20 in 1 in 12 twist barrel. my average groups are .025 at 100 yards and under 2 inches at 1000 yards. too make the shot i had too dial 12 moa or 62.9 inches high. i had a full steady 10 mph cross wind so i had too dial 19.4 inches or 3.8 moa or for that. and also have too compensate for the air temp, air density and cold boar shot. im glad that the buck bedded down after i saw him the first time i had alot of math too do lol.
