Arkansas Public Land Advice

Unread postby checkerfred » Wed Nov 14, 2018 8:53 am

I have a good friend in the Cherokee Village area and I've tossed around the idea of doing an out of state hunt around there. Anyone have any insight on which WMA's might be the best? I see there's Harold E. Alexander Spring River, Dave Donaldson, Cattail Marsh, W.E. Brewer, Frierson, Shirey Bay, Devil's Knob, and Sylamore withing a decent radius. I noticed Dave Donaldson has a antler width restriction which is interesting. Thanks in advance!

Sorry, Ive never hunted any of those. I have heard a few good things about David Donaldson.
I'm reason they call it hunting and not shooting.

Thanks for the reply. Any other Arkansas people here that could give some insight?

Well I never pass up an easy ribbing.

Too much banjo music down in Arkansas. Keep paddling! Hee hee.

I’ve been wanting to hit Arkansas one day. I’m pretty confident it’s a well hiden sleeper state.

In all seriousness I’ve never hunted that area of the state or any of those WMAs. I wish I could be more help. Most of my hunting is in western AR. The popular Arkansas hunting forum is Arkansashunting.net. You may be able to browse that and find some insights.
