Stealth strips smell
I just got in the mail some stealth strips I ordered for my loan wolf climbing sticks. I can see that they would definitely help make them more quit but the smell of them is horrendous. Halas anyone else had to del with this and if so how long did it take to air them out or what did you spray on them to mask the smell?

Re: Stealth strips smell
I always assume that a deer downwind is going to smell me. Sometimes they do and sometimes they don't, but I know I smell worse to a deer than stealth strips. Play the wind and don't worry about it.

Yup
I’m actually addicted to the glue on Stealth Strips. I quite like that smell.

Yea I'm sure the smell of us is more alarming to the deer than the glue lol

Re: Stealth strips smell
Get down wind of me today and you will wish you were smelling stealth strips... Gotta go shower now, or Carol said I can't sleep in the bed.

Re: Stealth strips smell
It’s obviously the smell from how they were made. My fear is that it is definitely not a natural smell that deer will be able to smell that from a long ways off

Deer aren’t afraid of glue but they are afraid of the smell of a predator.
If they smell the glue they already smelled you. Keep the wind in your favor and it won’t be a problem.

Re: Stealth strips smell
I spilled a 5 gallon bucket of catfish chum (soured Milo) in the back of my truck once. The foam seat on my stand soaked it up. It was plum rotten, I'm talking gag a maggot. Washed it off and let it hang in a tree for about a week and it was fine. Don't think it's necessary in your case but if it's really messing with your head just hose them down and let em hang for afew days outside.

Re: Stealth strips smell
I’ve been putting essential oils like pine and cedar in with the hunting clothes I dry. U could rub a small amount of something like that on the strips and leave them outside or just leave them alone. Glue is better than human scent probably to a deers nose imo

Re: Stealth strips smell
I have done and continue to do extensive research on this subject I own a swath of land approximately 170+ Acres along Highway 6 East spanning from Olyphant to Jessup in which I conduct regular research regarding this subject as well as others Originally 28 years ago I had a decent population of wild game to hunt including Ruffled Grouse, Woodcock Hens, Quale,Wilson Snipe, Jack Rabbits, Cotton Tails, Snow Shoes, Doe and Buck alike Red, Black, and Grey Squirrels, etc. As of 6 years ago we nothing, so I installed 40 hidden remotely operated cameras and 25 hidden game cameras as well as hidden self contained narrow band IR triggered pin lights tied to cameras designed to capture license plate Numbers, I have a substantial database of scumbag poachers who kill game regularly out of season including the baby Deer which is not uncommon in this area as these Hill-Billy's are the same scumbags that dump tires, appliances, shingles, furniture, TVs, and general rubbish one such dope even dumped his boat on the site and then returned with several cases of empty wine bottles and empty cases from grapes. These and other factors attracted me to take a deeper look at what was going on at this property tract. Rest assured I know who these individuals are and there is plenty of imagery and video to back it up. Now back to the subject at hand "essential oils and hunting" to effectively use the oils they must be deployed season correct otherwise the targeted game will not respond as intended and negative long term effects are likely and "potentially dangerous situations can arise" game such as Bear,Coyote, Wolves, and Cats from the very large to Bobcats, and worse yet domestic wild cats and neighborhood domestic cats which devastate bird, rabbit, squirrel populations as well as disrupt the wildlife by interd was auction of scents that would otherwise not be there. More on this later...
