How excited should I be about finding persimmons? Old posts here suggest that see LOVE them.
I walked by a persimmon tree the other day and there were persimmons lying all over the ground next to the tree. Totally indisturbed.
When do deer turn to this food source? Should I view this food source as a worthwhile place to set up at any point I the season?

Re: Persimmons - When do deer want them?
For what it's worth, I shot my biggest buck (only a 3 yr old deer) feeding on a lone persimmons tree on a large bench in mid-late October. It could of been coincidence but he ran up an about 100 ft elevation change and walked straight to the tree to feed and made a scrape. Obviously it depends on the area, cover, bedding, and food availability- but deer definitely eat them.

I hunted an oak flat with 3 persimmons absolutely loaded with fruit. Chest height to 20’ up and they were untouched last week, GA.
