First Major Cold Front
I don't know how many guys trust/use the moon movement guides, but in my area it says that Friday is a low movement day. However, it is going to be the first major temp drop of the year dropping from the mid-high 80's to below 50. Will a front like this trump moon movements? How will deer react to the temp change? Given it's such a drastic one cold it make them hunker down?

Weather always trumps moon and they should be on their feet later (morning) and earlier (evening).

I myself hoping for a good weekend. Hope they will be up and moving some. Going be in 50's here at night.
I'm reason they call it hunting and not shooting.

The cold front is hitting here tomorrow, yesterday was over 80, today is over 70, but tomorrow's high is in the upper 40's! I personally will take the cold front over the moon any day. I already told my boss I'm calling in sick! Can't miss this one!

Re: First Major Cold Front
It should be a great moon time for evening hunts this weekend, also highs in the 40s predicted. Hopefully I'm tagged out by Sunday nite

Because tomorrow will be a great day to hunt... are most of you guys going to a pre saught out area or spot they you know very well? or still scouting your way in? I have a few first year spots that i found some bedding but have not been in there yet during the season. would the first cold front be the time to go in "blind" or go to some reliable spot?

Will high winds (around me gusts into the mid 30s) keep the deer in the timber longer and make them get up before dark as usual?

Re: First Major Cold Front
Use the wind to your advantage...it should make it easier to sneak around and you know that it won't be swirling on you in most cases. It will be a great weekend for the beasts! I have family stuff and work until Sat. evening, so that will be my first sit.

Very high winds will have them hunkered down, or if they do move they are on edge and moving slow. That's what have observed over the past few years. I think that this could play to your advantage, as with the high wind noise, you will be able to get away with moving much closer then usual. You can use this to get right on top of then so when they do move your in a much better position to make something happen.
