I almost hit this buck just after dark with my car on sept. 1. It was a SE wind. 3 days later I came driving by at dark and saw him in the bean field below the ridge he must be bedding on. Again on a SE wind.I gained permission that next day. He is hanging around the road quite a bit so I need to get on him early.
This Saturday is supposed to be a SE wind. Because he is dropping down the ridge. ( ridge is only about 50 feet it height. Do I wait u till 45 min before dark when my thermals are dropping or get in there at like noon and wait it out????
Keep in mind this is the first time I will be going on this property Saturday or the next SE wind.
Give me all your opinions and examples!!! Thanks!!

I’d ambush on the ground as you feel the thermals switch.

I love the plan to wait for the Thermals to drop. Great Buck!

He may be able to see the road/field from his bed.
But you just have to go for it. Good luck.

I'm hoping the leaves on the trees help with that. I might set up just to peak into to the ridge. its suppose to be 85 and humid. debating on waiting till next week when it drops 20 degrees? is that dumb?

I wouldn’t wait if he’s on that pattern right now. It could change really quick.

Yup. Especially if he’s on the beans right now. Depending on where you live, those beans could turn very soon.

I would do the same as the guys have said above. You need to hunt him asap while he is being predictable. Plan your best access to hopefully stay hidden from his view. Either go in before the thermals start to drop with a just off wind, or wait for them to drop and quietly sneak in there.
Not all those who wander are lost...

Wow, good luck. I agree with the others, go after him now but try to access the area without simply walking in on the road.

Not dumb. But I wouldn’t wait.
He is about to change his pattern and likely relocate soon, so not much harm in bumping him now. Will have to refind him either way.
No matter what, after you try him, Find that bedding and you can kill for years to come.

Agree with PK, go get him. If you seen him from the road others may have too. Waste not a minute. He's going to relocate anyway if anybody goes in there after him without the right wind.
