Smelly rubber boots

Unread postby Fredbearjunior » Wed Aug 15, 2018 12:27 am

Hi gents. I want to try rubber boots this year. I bought a pair last week and they SMELL! I’ve been leaving them outside but I think they’re only smelling worse. The Texas heat may make them stink worse. Any tips? Also are there any lace up boots that would lock in some of your scent like a rubber boot does?

Don't leave em outside in the sun. They will shrink and fade to almost white! Look into some duck boots if u want a lace up option, those are my go to's. Also the rubber boots u say "smell" I assume u r talking that new rubber smell. Go take them mudding. Walk through some mudd and water and it will pull that smell off.

I buy my rubber boots one year in advance. Takes about that long to get that horrific Smell out. A buddy told me to boil water with black walnuts in it, then when it cools a little, throw the boots in and let it sit for a day or so. Then BAM! The odor's gone. I haven't tried it yet, but would like to.
It's not the destination, it's the journey getting there!

Bury them up to the top in dirt.

if you want too kill odors buy a cheep ozone unit http://www.lancasterarchery.com/whiteta ... nator.html but no matter what still pay attention to how you enter your area trying to avoid deer travel and always play the wind.

Deer aren't afraid of rubber. It's the human scent WITH the rubber that freaks them out.

I’ve heard burying them works. I prefer to just wear em scouting and hunting. Get em covered in mud and blood :D. That helps to cover the rubber scent.

And there will be a lot of human scent if you are wearing rubbers in Texas. My feet are sweating just thinking about that

What about painting black rubber boots.

Would that remove some of the smell?

Agree 100%... If they are downwind they will smell you whether you have new boots or not.
