Lightweight Early Season Ghillie suit

Unread postby Horizontal Hunter » Tue Jul 17, 2018 12:38 pm

I already have a regular string ghillie that I bought predator.com years ago but it is too heavy and catches on everything so it spends the vast majority of it's time collecting dust in the basement.

I'm looking for an early season (September 15 opener) light weight, strip style, ghilllie suit. I thought that I wanted a poncho style but I'm leaning toward the sapper style at this point.

What do you guys use and recommend?

Thanks,

Bob

I got one of these last year at Dave's recommendation and am very happy with it. Easy to carry it the included bag, breathable, no strings. Much lighter than my homemade burlap version for later in the season.

I bought one at Walmart years ago that is made of mesh. It is a leafy suit comprised of a pair of pants and a zip-up hoodie. I love it for early season because I can wear whatever I want under it and stay cool. It works really well, and I would suggest it to anyone for early season. The leaves on it blow around in the wind and make you feel like a super ninja. Plus... it's cheap.

Thank you. I just ordered it so I will have time to air it out and break it in.

It looks like all the strips are the same length. Did you do any mods to the suit other than trimming for your Bow arm?

Thanks,

Bob

And thanks to all that responded.

I trimmed bow arm and chest. It looks like shouldn't do much but with camera testing it really breaks up the outline well.

Yeah we tend to over think it. It doesn't take much. Just break up the outline; especially the head shoulder L. I've got some sneaky leaf so I might throw some on it.

I'm shooting a crossbow so I shouldn't need to trim much.

Thanks,

Bob

I received my kill suit today. Three days from order to doorstep. You can't beat that.

The suit itself will be perfect. It is nice and light and will be a great way to break up my outline on the ground. It does have a strong odor too it so I need to air it out and it will get a UV bath. After that I will go out looking for some mud puddles like I was six to break it in.
