Kinda like Dewey....usually nuttin'....more likely to have H20 while bowhunting...more likely to snack on most anything to stay warm during rifle season (granola, candy, trail mix....).
Yesterdays common sense is no longer common

I'm reason they call it hunting and not shooting.

Re: What Do YOU Eat While On Stand?
Teddy PB and locally sourced honey sammach on whole grain bread. Sometimes I'll slice up a banana and throw it in there too. Nature Made Granola bars. Water. I avoid coffee when on stand. Makes me have to see a man about a horse too often. I also avoid large diners/meals the night before. I had a decent buck walk by once while I was climbing down the tree to go negotiate a log pile. MAde me think to myself, what can I do to ensure this doesn't happen again.

Cold oatmeal in a bag. I squirt it in my mouth. That and Jerky. This year however I'm going dry a pile of apples... .

Usually only pack food for all day sits as well.
Water, thermos of coffee, and thermos of chili. Extra work for sure but I REALLY enjoy a hot cup of coffee on a cold fall morning. Hot chili at noon is another luxury I dont mind packing in either, good and simple.

I rarely take anything in with me. Maybe a sandwich or jerky every so often.

Re: What Do YOU Eat While On Stand?
Lara bars are a pretty awesome one I found last season and got kinda hooked on. I love the texture of those things. Fig bars too, they just started selling those at our Wegmans. Like an upgraded fig newton.
I'll make a big batch of deer jerky right before my rutcation and ration it out. The store bought stuff is way too salty.
Apples, granola, peanuts are some of my other stand bys.
Put everything in ziploc bags, cellophane is a bit too loud.
I only eat on long sits. During the rut, doing all day sits, eating can be really important to me. Mentally sitting out there putting in 12 hour shifts, day after day... I tell myself I am going to eat a granola bar at 11, candy bar at 12, apple at 1, and so on. It seems to me it makes the day go faster and liven things up a bit.

Pretty much the same as me. I only take food on all day sits. Early season sits I try to take water but usually forget it at the truck I've come to the conclusion that I just don't eat that much even on a daily basis at home so I don't need anything while i'm in the woods usually.

On all day sits I'll usually take a pb&j, a bag of trail mix, and some water. On regular half day sits I rarely take anything.

Re: What Do YOU Eat While On Stand?
During the early season it is some combination of Water, coffee, PBJ's, apples, trail mix.
When it gets really cold for the all day sits I break out the Jetboil. It is great to warm coffee/tea/cocoa and hot soup, oatmeal, or even a Mountain House to make for a comfortable sit while all the other guys are freezing and moving around to try and stay warm.

Double Draw wrote:Perhaps a crazy topic but just wondering what you pack in to eat while hunting? Do you avoid certain items? Why or why not? Any secrets to opening packaging more quietly besides avoiding naturally noisy stuff like chip bags, etc.? I'd love to hear your thoughts on anything related to this topic. Thanks!
it all depends on the season and temps. in early archery season i usually dont eat much, if i do its usually some kind of fruit. as it gets colder, ill unwrap granola bars and things like that. during cold snowy/rainy rifle season hunts, i move around alot, so i need the calories and energy ill usually take an mre, (get em from work).
