Hunting SW New York

I have a friend who moved to Cattaraugus County New York. He has invited me up to visit several times and I have no clue why it never crossed my mind, but this would be an awesome opportunity for an out of state hunt.

I am just wanting some basic info if anyone is familiar with the area. What type of terrain is it, deer population, hunting pressure, mature buck possibilities.

I would only be hunting public land and 4-5 day trip most likely. If I go it will most likely be middle to late October.

I know this is all info available online, but I trust Beast members more than google do thought I would try here first!

I’ll text bradc and tell him to hit you up when he gets a chance, he hunts that area. Mikeperry used to hunt there often so he’s another person you could pm. I’m not sure how much gsj4 has hunted it but he’s not far away either and could possibly provide some great insight as well.

Thank you I’ve been in contact with mikeperry, he said he hunted mostly private though.

Cattaraugus Creek should be full of steelhead in the fall if you're into that. You could hunt the public and fish for steelhead in Zoar Valley. I have fished "the Cat" but never hunted the surrounding public, although I would like to some day.
