Ticks very bad so far this year.
After scouting several days this week I noticed ticks are everywhere. Pulled 6 off of me yesterday afternoon in a 3 hour scouting session.
I use permathin and usually cutter or off spray. Since I already have Lyme desiese I'm not a huge fan of ticks even the sprays aren't keeping them away this year.

Noticed the same thing I hate ticks.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

I was getting them while there was snow on the ground a few weeks ago already... We have a hardy bunch of them up here.

I'm shocked that the permethrin isn't keeping them at bay. Since I started using it about 10 years ago I haven't been bitten by a tick.
I mix it to .08% and treat monthly.

I've scouted a few times this spring and got ticks on me all but once. That one time was 31 degrees. Usually I won't get them if the temps are under 60 but I got them in 45 degree weather. Crazy.

I have yet to notice any on me so far. I am sure I will run into a few this weekend taking the daughter turkey hunting! I will definitely have to make sure we are sprayed down good.

I found one in my ear canal last week. Had ringing in my right ear so I flushed it out with peroxide and out came a tick. No idea how long it was in there but encouraged that it never buried itself inside. No issues so far but will monitor closely.
Only one I have seen this year and a great reminder to check yourself even if you don’t easily see any. They are so easy to overlook till it’s too late.

So far in Central PA this spring seems pretty mild compared to the past couple years. Only picked 2 off my clothes this week turkey hunting so far.
Took my black lab to the vet yesterday and she tested positive for anaplasmosis though.

6 is childs play I've pulled 50-60 off after/during scouting missions. We had a bad tick year last season, nice cold winter might have beat them up a little bit, at least I am hoping.

Re: Ticks very bad so far this year.
apparently we have what is called the lone star tick now here on the east coast and is spreading a new really nasty virus . my kids friends dad got it and its making you blow up i guess retain fluid or water, bloat, high fevers, and after all that is done make you somehow allergic to certain foods and dairy . its crazy I will find out what its called and post .
lyme disease is very very debilitating and is a nasty thing to have none of us need that please everyone be safe spray down and maybe get momma to check you for ticks and you do the same for her lol . i will post this new sickness the lone star tick is spreading as soon as i find out the name . look up the lone star tick

They're bad, here in MO, too. Everthing is late this spring, but the ticks.

Luckily, I have not found one on me yet this year.
It seems that some parts of the my state are worse than others.

You can buy jugs of permethrin at farm supply stores, intended to be used on horses. I spray it on myself. Seems to work good.

If your scouting local marshes you will be good. I have never found a tick in over 30 years. When heading to the hills it’s a totally different story. Last time I went untreated with permethrin I was covered in them.
