Or stalking the cornfield on a wet/windy day, if they're bedding in it.

Great examples! Would it be a possibility to walk that shore line to access your spot also?

Yes, that would also be a possibility. I am planning on setting up a trail camera in the spot near where the ag field and crp field meet to see if I can get a better idea of how he is entering/exiting the spot based on different wind directions. That might also influence which way I access the bed.

I went out scouting again this weekend and found a couple more classic examples of farmland buck beds. One thing that I am learning is to look for the large blocks of timber or shelter belts that you are confident hold does. I then use google maps to find isolated pockets of shrubs or groupings of small trees within a mile of the doe bedding area to find potential beds. The last couple of beds I have found have been next to old dump grounds.

I have a trail camera set up in the shelter belt in the SW corner. I have captured several pictures of bucks early in the season heading north in the early AM and coming to to the camera from the North in the PM. At first I thought they were bedding the cattails, but after scouting this weekend I am pretty sure they are bedded near the dump ground marked by the blue label.

I found 4-5 well worn beds and old/new rubs where the red x's are located. The on the north side of the blue line it drops about 5 feet and creates a ledge. I will be setting up a trail camera nears this bed this summer, so hopefully I can share some good pictures to confirm my findings.

Good stuff, post up some cam pics when you get them. I'm interested to see what you find.
