2018 Goals
Welp, we are rolling into spring time... The forest is waking back up and its the time of fresh starts.
My first year on this site my goal was learn bedding and shoot a buck. Its funny how the rabbit hole keeps getting deeper or the list keeps getting longer.
Sound off - What is everyone's goals this year?

I want to see a buck get out of his bed or at least come from where I think he is bedding. Shooting him would be a bonus.

Re: 2018 Goals
To kill my first P & Y buck beast style. And its going to happen. Its not just a goal my confidence is too high from what I've done scouting in season last year and my 4 trips out spring scouting this year. And all my talks with you on FB. This is the year!

Re: 2018 Goals
Same goal as every year........try to kill a good buck and have a ton of fun while doing it.
Killing the buck I missed on New Years Day is at the top of my list. I have his sheds so I know he's still around.

Re: 2018 Goals
Took me a few to decide on what my goals are this year. I always base them off of failures from previous season.
*Try locate 2 great bucks from last season
*Try to wait until Oct to pull trigger
*Improve on trail cam usage
*Improve on farm bed scenarios
*Be successful in my draw hunt
*Shoot 3 Bucks

I'd like to see and shoot a legal FL deer on public land.

Re: 2018 Goals
1) First and foremost, kill a 3.5+ with my bow on MN public.
2) Kill a 3.5+ with my bow on SD public. Whether it’s a East river whitetail or West river mulie I don’t care.
3) Regardless if it’s bow or gun, public or private, I’d like to fill both buck tags which I haven’t done since I had kids.
I will be happy and consider it a successful season if I accomplish any one of the three.

Re: 2018 Goals
1. Kill a 100 inch plus buck in the bigwoods. Hate to put a number on it, but it gives me a clear goal. I'd also be happy with a 3.5 year if in fact he wasn't a 100 inch buck, but most 3.5 year olds exceed that.
2. Keep up with my hunting journal, my social media pages, and make time for my family.
3. Get the kill on film. (optional)

Re: 2018 Goals
For the first time in many moons I'm changing my goals. I always say have fun and give myself a chance at a mature buck.
This year I acquired some new areas in diff parts of the state to allow me some extra buck kills. I originally was gonna say kill 3 bucks this year, but that's to much pressure on me and would add stress to my fun. So, I'm going with 2 bucks this year. Locally, it will be what I consider a good mature buck for the area. The other which will be on wma ground I'm not sure. If a good 2.5 comes by its likely to trip my trigger so to speak. But above all have fun, no injuries and fresh backstraps on the grill.

Re: 2018 Goals
Top goal is to finally put one down with the bow
Second to that (not by much) is to keep pushing my comfort zone to improve my hunting ability. Have fun, but try to learn new things each hunt, and hunting new areas. I have a handful of great looking spots 1-3 miles back into the woods that just look dynamite on an aerial. Just need to man up and go hunt them.
I'd also like to extend my streak of gun kills another year. Not holding myself to any "deer quality" standards yet. Freezer filling for me for the time being

Re: 2018 Goals
Two bucks that gross over 125". Preferably at least one of those with bow, and at least one on public.
