Dictionary definition of arrogance:

arrogant
(ærəgənt )
adjective
Someone who is arrogant behaves in a proud, unpleasant way towards other people because they believe that they are more important than others.

The opposite is humility... Thinking others are more important than you. No matter what their abilities are.

I guess successful deer hunting does not really make a person important.

Confidence is:

If you have confidence, you feel sure about your abilities, qualities, or ideas.
The band is on excellent form and brimming with confidence.
I always thought the worst of myself and had no confidence whatsoever.

Confidence occurs through training, learning and hard work. The opposite would be uncertain about your ability.

I gain confidence from places like this forum and practice and experience.
I stay humble because the deer have a need to win.
