Just found the buck nest

Unread postby ghoasthunter » Tue Jan 16, 2018 12:39 pm

;[p0-' I just started my new spot today on a bench up in mountains. I found it scouting in November I hung a camera where I jumped a monster buck from his bed. I found his old sheds in his bed that day too! I left it alone till today went back and had over 400 pics I have that buck a big six and 8 scrub bucks on camera. I found the sixes shed in bed today! I fond out the deer bed their with every wind except a west. out of all the pics I only have only one day 2 does bed their. I found over sixty beds today on a 10 acer bench place is covered in poop and rubs! I figured out the bucks are feeding on chestnut oaks on top and dropping down and hooking into beds then they drop down on trails that the terrain converges into a second small bench about an acer their I found a 6 foot wide scrape and about 40 rubs on trees from 1 inch wide too bigger than my thigh. the scrape is about a hundred yards from closest bed and 200 yards from farthest bed. and 30 yards below it is a 3 foot wide hemlock looks like I found the right tree. next time I go in their I'm going to climb the tree and get it prepped and look for other exit trails to prep trees on.

I would prep a tree for each wind. And maybe a back-up too. You can never have too many tree's for a good spot. Better to go in and prep once. Then stay out.

that's my plan its over hour walk in so its got to be ready for everything. I also need to find where they go on west wind probably the other side of mountain lol. I also found some major rub lines running down ridge going to next high ridge the mountain looks like an alligator back and every thick western side is holding good beds I think the reason the deer go down the hill is also because their are three drainages that make a pond a couple hundred yards below the scrape.

Use Postimage.org, select upload and select the pic you want from your gallery and upload it. You then be able to copy the thumbnail link for forums and simply paste it into your post.
