I found these 2 beds yesterday on IA public. I could tell it was a definitely what had bedded there just by looking at the bed. Can you see what I noticed?

1st off "big" beds. At least 1 good sized track and antler marks in the snow. That are for sure from a decent sized rack.

My first guess was antler marks too.

Yup, you guys got it! Can't tell the B&C score, but you can at least tell they (or he) had decent antlers for a start.

This comes in handy while snow tracking too. I have seen antler marks in the snow not only in beds but also beam tips in the snow when a buck was brownsing.

Yes, I've seen the beam tip marks several times when browsing. Always makes your heart beat a little faster when you know the deer ahead of you is definitely a buck.

Ate the tine marks on the center left on the first pic and right above the bed in the second pic? Just making sure what I'm seeing is truly what it is. Thanks for posting.

Yes, exactly. They're marks made by the main beam when the buck curls his head along his side.

Thanks. That's what jumped out to me but I don't think I've seen that personally, only talked about so it's good to have a visual

Can you or one of the others circle the antler marks? I’m not seeing it

you can tell rack size on bare ground if you follow him and watch what trees he avoids or jumps over they don't seem to like twisting their racks threw trees if they don't have too. something they develop when in velvet and keep doing even after they shed.
