What a great story. Amazing how under the right conditions a buck can mature and survive, even in heavily hunted areas.

Great story Great buck. I am often dumbfounded on how a certain buck can survive for 9 + years and not be killed.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Love the history with those “ghosts”.

Just curious but, on average, how many 200”+ bucks are killed every year in Wisconsin?

Did it ever say what county it was shot in? I'm assuming, private land.

I did some quick research on this buck and guy as this was a very interesting story and actual footage.

I must say to shoot a buck of this size in the wild is a challenge, so not taking anything away from the guy.

What I found out is this buck was shot in Vernon County, namely town of Hillsboro.

I then dug farther for the guy and saw he shot another big buck in 2012. Here is link: http://lacrossetribune.com/big-buck/ima ... 449ef.html

I then found out he is a member of a family farm one of the largest in the area 1,125 acres. 640 acres is a one square mile so they have almost two square miles. He is link: http://lacrossetribune.com/westbytimes/ ... 9f6b8.html

I attached the links so others can see what I found and see what I believe is the same person in each article who shot the big buck.

Anyways, it is still a feat to shoot a monster wild buck no matter how you stack it.
